TRYING NOT TO TAKE IT PERSONALLY

My youngest son, Kyle, asked me the other day why on TV it is always the moms that die - but his dad died.

Because I am just this way... I responded by questioning him... "Are you saying you wish your mom would have died instead of your dad?"

Silence.

I am going to try not to take that personally. Who has a better response?

  1. I think I would have said something about it being because men are belittled and made unimportant and weak on TV. And that today's society puts more importance on moms than on dads. Dads are make weak and afraid of their spouses in most tv shows these days and are inconsequential in the lives of their families as anything other than someone for mom to boss around, make a joke of, and find fault with.

Or maybe I would have just hugged him and told him that I don't know why things happen the way they do, but I trust in God's plans.

Yeah, I think that last idea is the way I'd go.
